About Kell West Regional Hospital
Kell West Regional Hospital, L.L.C. is a licensed, 41-bed acute care hospital located at 5420 Kell West Boulevard in Wichita Falls, Texas. The Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient medical services to the residents of Wichita Falls and the surrounding communities, extending to Southern Oklahoma.
Kell West Regional Hospital is one of only a few physician-owned hospitals in the United States. A limited liability company composed of 74 physician partners owns 100% of the facility. Physician ownership permits medical professionals to actively control and manage the delivery of hospital-based care. Residents of Wichita Falls also have an alternative facility for diagnostic and therapeutic acute care. Kell West Regional Hospital is governed locally by a 7-member Board of Managers composed of physician members and community representatives.
Wichita Falls is a growing community of approximately 110,000 that lies halfway between Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas. Wichita County is a rural area with a solid ranching, oil, manufacturing and service-sector economy. The major employers are Sheppard Air Force Base, Midwestern State University, Vetrotek-Certainteed, and General Motors. Additional health care facilities include United Regional Health Care System, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, HealthSouth Surgery Center, and the Texas State Hospital.
Wichita Falls serves as a referral center for the “Texoma” region of North Central Texas. Wichita Falls’ medical facilities and specialists receive referrals from many of the physicians and health care institutions that serve the smaller communities surrounding Wichita Falls, such as Henrietta, Electra, Bowie, Olney, Graham and many others. By providing specialty care to many of these outlying communities, the “catchment area” of Kell West Regional Hospital is significantly expanded from the population base of Wichita Falls. Kell West Regional Hospital serves an area comprised of approximately 350,000 residents.
The policies and procedures for Kell West Regional Hospital have been developed to comply with State, Federal, and Accrediting organization requirements. The hospital provides surgical, medical, radiological, pathology, laboratory, pharmacy, and rehabilitative services for inpatients and outpatients.
Kell West Regional Hospital is licensed as a general acute care hospital by the State of Texas Department of Health and is accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Laboratory services are accredited by the College of American Pathologists and Radiology services are accredited by the American College of Radiologists. The Hospital participates with Medicare and a number of private insurance carriers, HMO’s, PPO’s and self-insured employers.
Kell West Regional Hospital prides itself on the quality and commitment of its staff. Nurses, technologists, pharmacists, aides, and managers have been selected and trained for their clinical skills and their dedication to a personalized health care facility where the patient comes first.
